Love being a new mom more......
Join other moms and babies in an opportunity for ongoing support and connection!
Joining a group can help to answer questions, gain perspective, nurture friendships, reduce isolation, and enjoy interacting with your little one even more!
The groups meet once a week for six weeks for a facilitated session with me and once more during the week with just the moms and babies for an outing or activity
During the facilitated sessions we share birth or adoption stories, who makes up our families, what our biggest challenges are, what we did before we became moms and whether we will be returning to that at some point, how our babies came by their names, issues of identity, returning to work or not, physical recovery and intimacy, how to get a break, allowing others to help care for our babies, how being a new mom has impacted relationship, parenting theories and much more!
The outings allow you to gain comfort and experience in getting out and about with your little one and it helps moms to get to know each other better socially
The babies usually range in age from 2-16 weeks when the groups start - everyone is ready at a different time and a range of ages is extremely helpful for perspective
We meet in a comfortable and relaxed environment that is easy to get to - the East Bay Lactation Associates office in Albany - ** At this time, ALL Groups meet in the Albany location**
Please feel free to email or call with any questions or concerns that you have
You can register here on the site for the group you would like to attend
You can pay at the time of registration via paypal online or at the fist session by check or card
I am always open to discussing payment arrangements if that would be helpful
I do support groups because it was the best thing that I did for myself as a new mom and I want to help provide the same opportunity for other new moms
Most of these groups continue to meet for years after their initial six weeks
It really is an amazing resource - we are surrounded by wonderful women going through the same transitions and being together through this really lightens the load!
I hope to see you and your baby in a group soon!
***Working Moms Groups***
We meet two Sundays per month from 9-11 for three months
This is to allow plenty of time to spend with your families while still making connections and getting support
Babies will range much more in age
Most moms will attend without their babies as it is easier to have deeper discussions without having to tend to the babies as well.
Babes in arms are welcome to attend and once they are moving around and or needing more focus and attention it is best to attend without them so you can get as much as possible out of the group.
This is an important resource as once you return to work outside the home the challenges shift and it is hard to find the time to get the support you need!
There are other women facing the same issues and it is wonderul to have their support negotiating your own circumstances.

ICEA instructor, lactation educator, health educator, doula and Mom!
Support Group for Mothers offers facilitated support groups for first and 2nd time mothers in the East Bay.
This organization was founded by Sherry Reinhardt, more than 30 years ago, in response to her own challenges with motherhood and her desire to build community.
We are pleased to be continuing this work that we have found so valuable ourselves!
