INSPIRATION POINT in TILDEN PARK
Meet in the Parking Lot which is fairly obvious.
The trail is paved and stroller friendly. It goes for miles and
miles. Benches available along the path. Porta potties at the
trail head. Bring stroller or carrier. Bring water and food if
you plan to picnic along the way. Sunhats and sunscreen especially
for afternoon walks. It can be hot. Occasionally windy and may
want a sweatshirt.
From Berkeley and North Freeway exit is Albany. Buchanan becomes
Marin after crossing San Pablo Ave. Continue heading East on Marin
crossing The Alameda Continue up Marin and around the Arlington
Circle Fountain Go up Marin Ave. a very steep hill to the top
which is Grizzly Peak Right on Grizzly Peak Left on Shasta and
down the hill to the park. Shasta Road merges onto Wildcat Canyon
Road near the Brazilian Building Continue past the Botanical Gardens.
Follow Wildcat Canyon Road around to the left past the gardens,
go uphill for about a mile, until you see the sign and parking
lot for Inspiration Point on your left.
From Oakland Skyline Blvd turns into Grizzly Peak or you can
take Claremont Avenue all the way up the hill to the intersection
with Grizzly Peak Boulevard and Fish Ranch Road. From Claremont,
turn Left onto Grizzly Peak Boulevard and turn Right on South
Park Drive, which leads into the middle of Tilden Park. South
Park Drive intersects with Wildcat Canyon Road near the botanical
garden. Take Wildcat Canyon Road to the, bearing to the Right
and follow it up hill for about a mile, until you see the sign
and parking lot for Inspiration Point on your left.
NOTE: It's possible some times of year that South Park Drive
will be closed to traffic, in order to protect the newt population
of Tilden Park. If South Park Drive is closed, you will need to
continue driving along Grizzly Peak Boulevard to the next intersection
beyond South Park Drive and take a RIGHT onto Golf Course Drive.
From there, take a RIGHT onto Shasta Road, then merge onto Wildcat
Canyon Road near the Brazilian Building and the Botanical Gardens.
Follow Wildcat Canyon Road around to the left past the gardens,
go uphill for about a mile, until you see the sign and parking
lot for Inspiration Point on your left.
